History of SSCR

Societas Sacerdotalis Christi Regis (SSCR), more commonly known as the Priestly Society of Christ the King, was formed in 1990 by a small group of seminarians of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles studying at Saint John's Seminary College.

Formal establishment of the Society took place on the Feast of the Holy Name of Our Lord, 1994.

The first Priestly Ordinations for the Society took place in Ashford, Kent, Great Britain, in September, 1997.

The first Oratory of the Society was established on 4th October, 1997, the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, the titular patron of this Chapel.

Since that time, the Society has established Chapels and Mass Centres in several states across the United States, as well as accepting and assisting affiliate Chapels and Mass Centres.
